But Faber is one man who keeps on stealing his thunder and tries to keep the spotlight away from him, injecting himself into the scene anytime and every time he can. He has landed himself another title bout against the champion in July and Dominick Cruz, in an interview, stated that he will do everything in his power to shut Faber up, once and for all.

Wrestling fans have been waiting for a long time to see this match happen. The possibility of this match happening was announced in October of 2011. Since then, Diaz missed a few key press conferences which were supposed to promote the match, and was replaced by the king of the welterweight category, Carlos Condit. Pierre, subsequently, withdrew from the bout due to a knee injury he had sustained some time back. Pierre recently appeared on a talk show, “Inside MMA” hosted by Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten, where he spoke about his knee injury and when he hoped to return to the action. On the show, he said that the primary reason for the extended injury was that he hadn’t given his left knee enough time to heal and was overcompensating with his right knee. This caused him to injure that as well. He hopes to be back in the fighting cage by early November if everything goes according to plan. He is currently undergoing treatment.

The superstar of French-Canadian origin said that he would like to face Nick Diaz the next time he comes to the cage. In the meanwhile, the UFC has scheduled a match between Diaz and Condit to keep the fans happy. St. Pierre will be watching the match from the sidelines as the two fight it out to gain the welterweight title, and hoping to face Nick Diaz before the end of the year. Pierre also made it abundantly clear about who he would be backing in the title fight, saying that Nick Diaz is the best man and he’s like to see the best man win.

Georges St-Pierre tore his ACL and might stay out of the ring for around ten months which might be a heavy blow to his fighting career. This announcement was made by the UFC president Dana White. This is definitely one of the worst injuries sustained by the fighter in his career as it will cost him the prestigious spot in UFC 143 main event and also the much anticipated fight against Nick Diaz, the former Strikeforce champion. Diaz will now be facing Condit which will be for the interim welterweight championship. This is a serious blow for the champion Georges St-Pierre but he might find consolation in the fact that he will get an opportunity to win the title back when he returns to his fighting ring.

Last time he suffered such a bad injury was in the year of 2009 during his title defence against Thiago Alves. He tore his groin and was out of action for eight months.

Georges St-Pierre has been the champion for an amazing 1300 days since he won it initially from Matt Serra in the year 2008, April. There have been a lot of rumours lately regarding his injury. Many people have written him off and deemed his career to be over but Georges St-Pierre won’t hear any of it. He has promised to recover and be back at the top of his form.

Georges St-Pierre’s surgery will be performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic at Los Angeles. He is considered by many to be the best orthopaedic surgeon in sports medicine. He has performed successful surgeries on Blake Griffin and Andre Ethier.
